About neurotoxins...
Botox, Dysport and Xeomin, also known as Botulinum toxins, are neurotoxins produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. These products are commonly used as cosmetic treatments to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by temporarily paralyzing the muscles responsible for facial expressions. Neurotoxins work by blocking the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that signals muscles to contract. This causes the muscles to relax, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles, giving the face a more youthful appearance. In addition to its cosmetic uses, neurotoxins are also used to treat various medical conditions, such as muscle spasms, migraines, and excessive sweating (hyperhydrosis). Despite its potential benefits, neurotoxins should only be administered by trained professionals and in safe, controlled doses. See below for more information on treatment areas.
